Avvio Networks’ AM2554 is an eight port protocol independent optical edge device with user-accessible SFPs supporting 850nm, 1310nm, 1550nm, or C/DWDM optical interfaces. The AM2554 is used to repeat data streams from 100Mb/s to 2.7Gb/s.
The AM2554’s protocol independent architecture enables service providers to natively support any protocol including SONET, SDH, Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand, ATM, and TDM traffic at any rate from 100Mb/s to 2.7Gb/s. It retimes, re-generates and reshapes (3-R) the optical signals for increased data reliability. It automatically detects the bit rate of the incoming signal and locks onto it without operator intervention.
The AM2554 and its SFPs are hot swappable. SFPs for specific protocols and reach as well as multi-rate are available. It provides performance monitoring via the AM2502 Controller module. The AM2502 provides SNMP support, a craft port for management over a serial link and Telnet for remote management using Avvio Networks’ command line interface.
The AM2554 is a single-width card for use in the A2050 or A2500 chassis.
