Avvio Networks’ AM2558 Multiplexer is an optical edge device that converts up to 16 OC-3 or 4 OC-12 signals at 1310nm or 1550nm into an OC-48 signal at 1310nm, 1550nm or a DWDM wavelength. The AM2558 is well suited to multiplex existing OC-3 and OC-12 equipment to OC-48 at a fraction of the cost of replacing the equipment.
The AM2558 has 8 SFP client interfaces and 1 SFP line interface. All SFPs are user-accessible.
The AM2558 can also be user configured to multiplex 4 OC-3 signals into an OC-12, or can be used as an OC-48 repeater/regenerator. When used with an AM2554 module, up to 16 OC-3 signals can be multiplexed into an OC-48.
The AM2558 re-times, re-generates and re-shapes the optical signals for increased data reliability. Data can be clocked using an internal source, or any incoming clock. The AM2558 also features non-intrusive SONET/SDH overhead monitoring and can be configured to trigger alarms based on a number of error conditions. It offers DCC support on the OC-3, OC-12 and OC-48 channels.
The AM2558 can also be linked to a second AM2558 for redundancy, or it can be configured for line-side redundancy with an AM2554.
An AM2550 module can also be used with the AM2558 to provide OTU-1 encapsulation for the OC-48 signal.
